Let’s Talk Bookish – Happily Ever After?

Welcome to my Let’s Talk Bookish post! Created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits, Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly prompt which encourages you to discuss certain topics and spread the love by visiting others’ posts.

As this week is a choose your own adventure, I looked back through this month’s prompts and chose Should all Romances have Happily Ever Afters? – I think this is a perfect prompt considering the romance kick I’ve been on!

Do you like romances with happy endings?

I adore romances with a happy ending so much that I don’t think I’ve read a novel without one! To me, a romance novel isn’t complete without a HEA and a sickeningly cute epilogue but that may be down to the type of romance novels I read (looking at you Julia Quinn and Tessa Bailey). I have however seen people tag books as ‘happily for now’ which intrigues me, I’m not sure I could cope knowing the books OTP might not stay together!

Do you think that all romances should have happy endings? Why or why not?

I would say that a romance novel = a happily ever after. Romance novels are formulaic and I love them for it, I know when I pick up a novel that although the couple may fight and be pulled apart by outside forces, they’ll end up back together (normally slow dancing in the kitchen or rolling around in the garden). I think it’s why I end up reading romance when the world goes to hell 😂, they’re the ultimate comfort blanket!

Saying that I would love to read a platonic romance novel if that genre exists – just friends supporting each other and being lovely without the pressure of falling in love or sex!

What are some of your favourite romances with Happily Ever Afters?

As I said all the romances I read have HEAs but these are some of my favourites 💛

What romance novels have you been reading? Do you like Happily Ever Afters?

  1. Yes!!! They absolutely always need a happy ending!! It’s typically why I pick up a romance because I know it will be a feel good and have a happy ending. 🙂
